Let your emotions be your guide to your current thinking rather than letting your emotions rule your thinking. Abraham, Esther Hicks has so brilliantly introduced this concept of a powerfully effective and efficient way of navigating our human lives in our everyday world.
Emotions don’t create thinking. Thinking creates emotions. They are created in order for us to recognize that we are either in alignment with our Inner Knowing, or Higher Self, that part of us that is connected to Source Energy, or we are out of alignment. I like to use the view of being in tune or out of tune, in harmony, or in discordance. When a guitar or any other instrument is tuned to the right note, they resonate and become one. Until then, they are in discordance, or out of tune to the desired note. Our emotions are the perfect guide for us to navigate life with ease and clarity.
We have so many thoughts going on all day long, even tens of thousands of them each day. This amount of mental activity is not something that is easy to regulate or control even if it is desired. However, by paying attention to how we are feeling, we can then pay attention to our current thinking that is causing this emotion to come to the surface. As we are feeling bad or not good, we can understand that this guidance is telling us that we are out of tune, out of alignment with our Higher Self or Inner Being. Something is not right. It feels off.
This understanding, then, can help inspire us to see what thoughts are in our minds at the moment. In this case, we are thinking or seeing something that is not to our liking, not what we want, and such. It may be something coming up from our history or something new that is being related to our history. In any case, the bad feeling is our clue that we are experiencing something in our thoughts that we really do not want. Some may say it is negative thinking, but that is too big a category to deal with effectively. It is simply our thoughts about ourselves, another, or about some situation and our bad feeling emotion is simply and clearly letting us know that we are experiencing something we do not really want.
We can attach ourselves to that emotion and then the Law of Attraction will help find more thoughts that match the discordance for as long as we want to do this. Some people might do this for hours, or a day, or far longer. This is how depression is expressed. We are stuck in discordance because we are stuck in a loop of our thinking that is causing us to experience bad-feeling emotions because those thoughts are out of alignment with our Inner Knowing, and the Law of Attraction is bringing us more to match the vibration that we are emitting. It can be like flipping on a dark switch in a well-lit room.
Or, we can be in our awareness of this guidance that we are experiencing something we do not want and then make a decision to consider what it is that we do want. It may be as straightforward and simple as we want to feel better. And, this is the key to feeling better: Find some bit of relief by choosing a thought that feels just a little better. Then again, and again, and then we are soon feeling better and better until we are feeling good again. The fastest way to do this in my experience is to find anything at all to appreciate, then something else to appreciate, and so on. And, the best part of all this is that we are now living deliberately, choosing deliberately, expanding our lives deliberately because we now understand our emotional guidance system and how to make use of it and make use of the power of the Law of Attraction for our benefit rather than our detriment.
